Learn AI

AI is a brilliant assistant that knows nothing about your salon.

Ask it a question cold and you get the same generic answer everyone gets. Tell it who you are, what you charge, who your clients are and how you talk, and it starts doing real work: rosters, client messages, job ads, price rise letters, number crunching. The trick is the set-up. That's what this is.

Do it yourself

No-show: first time

A client didn't turn up. It's the first time and you'd like to keep them.

A client didn't turn up for their [SERVICE] today at [TIME]. It's their first no-show and they're [A REGULAR / NEW TO US].
Our policy: [e.g. NO-SHOWS ARE CHARGED 50% / THE DEPOSIT IS KEPT]
This time I'm going to: [CHARGE THE FEE / WAIVE IT AS A ONE-OFF]

Write a text that:
- checks they're OK
- explains the policy without lecturing
- says clearly what's happening with the fee
- makes it easy to rebook

Under 60 words. No guilt trip. No passive-aggressive tone.

Price rise: personal heads-up to a regular

Your loyal regulars should hear it from you before the general announcement.

Our prices change on [DATE]. For this client, their usual [SERVICE] goes from $[OLD PRICE] to $[NEW PRICE]. They've been coming to us for [NUMBER] years.

Write a personal text from [MY FIRST NAME] that:
- gives them a heads-up before we announce it to everyone
- thanks them for their loyalty, briefly and genuinely
- states the new price plainly
- includes this, if I've filled it in: [e.g. THEY CAN BOOK THEIR NEXT 2 VISITS AT THE CURRENT PRICE BEFORE THE DATE]

Under 300 characters. Confident, not apologetic.

Job ad for a junior, assistant or receptionist

For the support roles that keep the place running. (For stylists, use job 4 in the five jobs.)

Write a job ad for a [RECEPTIONIST / SALON ASSISTANT / JUNIOR STYLIST / BEAUTY THERAPIST].

Hours: [ ]
Pay: [ ]
What the job really involves day to day: [ ]
What we offer: [e.g. TRAINING, A CLEAR PATH TO STYLIST, STAFF SERVICES]

Under 200 words, honest, written to the applicant. No discriminatory wording. Add 3 short screening questions applicants should answer when they apply, so I can shortlist quickly.

Protect client and team privacy

Before you use AI, take out names and anything that could identify a client or someone on your team. Don't paste sensitive or confidential information into an AI product unless you've checked how that company stores, keeps and uses it.

The easy habit: write "Client A" or "[CLIENT NAME]", let AI draft the message, then add the name yourself in your booking system. The kit and the free guide both show you how, step by step, including the privacy settings worth switching on.

What AI won't do

It won't cut hair, read a room or know your regulars. It will confidently get things wrong if you let it, especially numbers and New Zealand law. Used well, it takes the admin off your plate so you can do the part only you can do. That's the whole pitch.
